Science teacher takes picture of fast flying UFO
Two witnesses photographing birds spotted a translucent, disc shaped object fly rapidly across the sky in Cass Lake, Minnesota, on September 2, 2013.
Allison Barta, a high school science teacher was photographing pelicans outside her northern Minnesota home with her friend Neil Peterson, when they saw the UFO. Barta managed to capture a picture of the object, with pelicans also in the frame.
"The two of us are watching it zoom across the sky, and I'm trying to get another picture of it, but I couldn't catch it," Barta told the Grand Forks Herald.
Barta, who teaches at the Bug O Nay Ge Shig School, in Bena, MN, is familiar with the sky, having spent a summer mapping the stars.
She's sure that the image in her photograph is not a lens flare, because Barta and her friend saw the object fly across the sky in broad daylight, under clear skies.
The sighting left the witnesses, "dumbfounded" for a moment, but Barta came away feeling enlivened.
"I'm kind of thrilled I saw it," she told the paper.
Response to her sighting has been generally positive, and the teacher is not concerned over possible ridicule for sharing her photograph.
"What are the chances of getting that picture?" she said.
"You need to not be afraid to share, so I'm sharing it. We all live on this Earth and we should look out for each other."
