Egg-Shaped Object Seen In Skies Above Levelland, Texas in 1957
At least nine people, including a sheriff and one of his deputies, reported seeing an egg-shaped UFO near Levelland, Texas, on Nov. 2-3, 1957.
James D. Long of Waco apparently enjoyed the best view of the object. Long told a newspaper he was driving in a rural area about 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 3 when he came upon the UFO, which was sitting in the middle of the road. He said it was about 200 feet long, oval-shaped and glowed like a neon sign.
Long said his headlights went out and then his car coughed and died about 200 feet from the UFO. He got out to investigate and that’s when the object “roared” and flew straight up into the sky. Once it was gone, Long said his car started up again.
Pedro Sacido and Nowell E. Wright said the object passed above their cars with a thunder-like roar. Their headlights went out and their car engines cut off as the UFO flew by, they said. Sheriff Weir Clem and Deputy Pat McCullough said they saw the object streak through the sky in front of their patrol car.
Farther south in Midland on the night of Nov. 2, a woman reported she and her two children saw “a large object of bluish color flying west and very low.”
In Clovis, N.M., the owner of radio station KOLV said he saw a UFO about 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Odis Echols said he saw “a streak of light like a fireball” head toward the southeast.
Later that week, sightings of an egg-shaped UFO were reported in White Sands, N.M., and Santa Fe, N.M.
